Project Trust offers school leavers a challenging year of discovery in Africa, Asia or the Americas. Through living and working overseas for a year, our volunteers gain new perspectives on the world and themselves. This unique formative experience gives young people a foundation of skills and understanding on which to build a positive future as responsible global citizens.
From our base on the Hebridean Isle of Coll, we select 280-300 young people from across the UK and Europe for year-long voluntary teaching and social care projects in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean annually. These projects are carefully selected to ensure the volunteersí existing skills can be put to good use in their host communities and do not take work from local people.
We provide all volunteers with extensive training and support before, during and after their time overseas, to maximise both the educational value of their experience and the positive impact they have in their projects. Our volunteers return from their projects overseas with greatly broadened horizons, increased maturity and an impressive range of transferable skills, as well as an in-depth understanding of their host culture.
