Africa and Asia Venture (AV) celebrates their 5,000th volunteer!

Date added: Tuesday 2nd February 2010

AV is smiling today after celebrating the departure of their 5000th volunteer. Anna Walker and Peter Bell waved goodbye to the Mexico group yesterday morning at London Peter Bell (back centre), co-founder of AV, with the 5,000th volunteer en route to Mexico from HeathrowHeathrow, with the 5000th volunteer amongst them. In celebration of this momentous occasion we have sent our very own Buzz Lightyear AV mascot with the AVs to join them on their adventure in Valle de Bravo.

We would like to say a big THANK YOU to all AVs out there who make up the mammoth 5000 volunteers.  All 5,000 have taken the time and effort to commit to the Developing World and to a rural community. All will have memories from their time with AV that will remain with them forever.

One AV Volunteer had a message for us; "I personally think this landmark is a fantastic achievement and deserves a big round of applause. As an AV you really don't know the half of what goes on behind the scenes to make the projects work and so I'd like to stick my neck out and say on behalf of the other 4,999 volunteers whose lives you have changed THANK YOU!!!  Here's to the next 5,000!"
