With the Kenyan coastline continuing to attract enthusiastic volunteers year after year, Africa & Asia Venture (AV) has selected the best bits from the programs it has run in this incredible country over the past 20 years and combined them into an unforgettable, five-week summer project.
During their summer in Kenya, applicants will get involved with teaching in a local classroom and work on a renovation project, as well as visiting an Elephant Orphanage and Giraffe Center in Nairobi. †In addition to volunteering, there will be plenty of free time to swim in the ocean most days and plan weekends of extra activities, such as exploring, scuba diving and dolphin spotting. Thereís also the opportunity to spend two days on safari in the Shimba Hills National Reserve.
Commenting on the new Kenya program, Andrew Mackenzie of AV said: ďNot only does the new program give our travellers the opportunity to cram lots of exciting elements into their immersion project, but the length of the program allows them to take part in a life changing experience during their summer break, without having to take time out from studies. This is ideal for many young people who donít have the time or the funds to take a full gap year but want to do something meaningful over the summer, which will enhance their future job prospects upon graduation.Ē
