High school leaver Aaron Wilson is using his gap year to both travel and gain work experience before starting his degree.
The teenager chose to defer his university place for 12 months in order to take a gap year, and believes this was a great decision.
Speaking to the Daily Pennsylvanian, Aaron explained that he spent the first part of his year out travelling in Europe and Israel.
During this time, he learned more about himself as a person and about the world him.
And after returning from his travels, Aaron took a summer internship near home to develop his workplace skills.
"I'm learning way more than I could have learned in any class," he told the news provider. "I have a lot of responsibility in what I do."
