China - an increasingly popular destination for gap year travellers - holds appeal the whole year round, it has been suggested.
Manuel Mascarenhas, managing director of Wendy Wu Tours, explained that people heading to the Far East during the winter have the opportunity to experience authentic Chinese New Year celebrations.
He noted that the festival is all about colour and fanfare - and a real treat for people visiting China from overseas.
But for those leaving the UK during the winter in search of sunnier climes, eastern Asia may not be the ideal destination.
Mr Mascarenhas noted that the Chinese seasons are quite similar to Britain's, meaning it can be a little bit cold at this time of year.
He added that spring and autumn are "really nice", while summer can get very warm.
"It is quite cold at this time of year but nevertheless, it is still beautiful," Mr Mascarenhas stated.
"If you go in the winter months it is clear, it is fresh, and it is less crowded. Our seasons are their seasons."
