Many British professionals may have an opportunity to take a career break in 2012, based upon the findings of a new study.
Research conducted by Lifetime indicates that a fifth of UK workers are aiming for a change of career during the next 12 months.
And with people looking to leave their current employment, this could be the ideal opportunity to take a break and undertake foreign travel.
Time spent abroad - potentially on a gap year program - may help people realise exactly what they want to do with their life.
Nigel Wallace, development director at Lifetime, explained that the majority of people geared up for change are hoping to improve their work-life balance.
He pointed out the importance of pursuing a career that not only motivates and inspires you, but is enjoyable on a daily basis.
"Whether it is taking the time to switch off from work via a hobby, retraining or moving jobs, the start of the year is the perfect time to consider your options," he said.
