An Australian music student has explained how the opportunity to undertake gap year work experience in England was too good to turn down.
Brianna Ensor, 17, from Mount Isa in Queensland, said she had never wanted to go straight from high school to university, being well aware of the benefits of a gap year adventure.
So when the chance came up to work as a music teacher's assistant in the UK for a year, she jumped at it.
"I wanted to go overseas when I finished school," she told the North West Star.
"It's kind of like the end of my childhood and I just want to enjoy a break after school."
Brianna is heading to Port Regis, a top independent boarding school in Dorset, to pick up some vital gap year work experience.
"The program is for a full year but there are three or so months that are holidays where I can travel and do what I want really," she noted.
In addition, Brianna intends to use weekends and days off through the year to fully explore the south-west of England.
