Those hoping to undertake voluntary work do not necessarily need to travel abroad in order to provide a helping hand to communities.
Sisters Maggie Kopanska and Dorota Michalowska have sought to aid the town of Worksop since they moved to the region three years ago.
According to the Trader & Guardian, the pair have looked into undertaking voluntary work whilst in the area.
Such enquiries have led to Ms Kopanska and Ms Michalowska becoming volunteers for Worksop police.
Ms Michalowska pointed out that she cannot commit to full-time work as she has kids to look after and is needed to take part in the school run.
However, she commented: "I didn't want to be at home all day with nothing to do, so I decided to look for voluntary work which would be more flexible and fit around the children."
Recently, Dan Hawes, co-founder of the Graduate Recruitment Bureau, has encouraged university students to gain as much work experience as possible during their time in education, so that skills can be gained and a CV can be strengthened.
