Students from the University of East Anglia have doing their bit for charity, which may encourage others to undertake voluntary work and give something back on a gap year abroad or through charity efforts closer to home.
A group of part-time MBA students will hold a French-themed fete on September 30th, to raise money for Red Balloon, a charity which helps youngsters affected by bullying, the Norwich Evening News reports.
Part of the mature students' course requires them to give something back through community fundraising or voluntary work, much like a structured gap year travel experience.
One of the students, Lesley Anastasiou, 45, said: "The charity helps to build their confidence and gives them one-to-one teaching to help them get back into school or on to employment."
Earlier this week, writing for the Scotsman, Martin Hannan said it was a "puzzle" why more graduates from the UK were not considering a gap year abroad on which to gain work experience or volunteer for charity.
