Tampa's Latin Quarter 'a hidden gem for gap year travellers'

Anyone planning a gap year in the US should look to the 'unexplored' corners of Florida for a unique cultural experience.

James Liston, UK representative for Tampa Bay & Company, said that Tampa's Latin Quarter was a real hidden gem for gap year travellers hitting Florida's west coast to explore.

As well as meaningful gap year activities, such as undertaking voluntary work or gaining qualifications, the Tampa area also attracts gappers with its year-round sunshine, great beaches and easy access from the UK.

Mr Liston also recommended a number of exciting places for those training, volunteering or doing work experience in the area to visit.

"Top attractions are Busch Gardens theme park, plus a host of others, including Adventure Island water park, the Florida Aquarium and Canoe Escape," he explained.

Meanwhile, price comparison service Kelkoo Travel recently told those planning a gap year abroad that long-haul flights often provide better value for money than shorter ones.
