Brazil is a destination which caters for every type of traveller, including gap year students, according to an industry expert.
Chris Fuzinatto, director of UK and Ireland for the Brazilian Tourist Office, said the news that the country will host the 2014 football World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games is making an impression on people's minds.
"One thing that attracts people to Brazil is its culture. Cultures are very diverse. You have 26 states and one federal district. Every state has its own music, gastronomy and culture. It's a multicultural country really," he added.
Mr Fuzinatto also commented that gap year students have plenty to see and do in Brazil, including taking a visit to the Iguassu Falls in the south of the country, which is one of the biggest waterfalls in the world.
Year Out Group has 11 member organisations providing gap years in Brazil, where participants can take part in community and conservation work.
