Students who are struggling to find employment should take a gap year abroad in order to bolster their CV, according to an expert.
Dearbhla O'Brien, Usit managing director, told SBPost.ie that conservation voluntary work, such as working with animals in the wild or as a ranger in a safari park have become increasingly popular in recent years.
"There are a range of programmes across a number of continents - like working in an orphanage, doing eco-tours or working in a medical environment. China, Thailand, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa are the most popular destinations," she added.
Ms O'Brien went on to say that activities such as these are something that anyone would like to include on their CV, while it is also a chance to give something back to people and environments which need assistance.
Earlier this month, Martin Taylor, from Year In Industry, said that parents are to thank for the a changes in attitude which now see students wanting to do something worthwhile on their gap year.
