Trekker completes 1,293 mile walk for Blue Ventures

A trekker from Exeter has completed a 1,293 mile walk, which has taken her from John o'Groats to Land's End, to raise £10,000 for a gap year organisation's project.

Tess Shellard walked for 54 consecutive days, completing around 35 miles each day, in her bid to gather funds for a network of family planning clinics in remote villages in southern Madagascar.

She started her charity walk on May 13th and finished earlier this week, losing a considerable amount of weight in the process due to the challenging requirements of the trek.

"It's impossible not to get swept up in the excitement of the work they're doing," she said of Year Out Group founder member Blue Ventures.

"I hope I can raise as much money as possible to help ensure Blue Ventures can continue its inspiring work," she continued.
