Gap year students should avoid 'just in case packing'

Gap year students should ensure that they travel light this summer, ensuring that they do not fall into the category of "just in case packers", according to an expert.

Brad Isbell, editor of 1bag1world.com, told PBPulse.com that most travellers overdo things as they pack things that they think they might need but probably do not.

"You'll never pack light if you try to cover every possible situation or crisis you might encounter. Of course it might be colder or hotter than you expect, you might have time to do some hiking, you might need dressier clothing," he added, advising that if gappers prepare for every last eventuality then they will always be overloaded.

Doug Dyment, author of OneBag.com, told the publication that the secret to packing well for travels is to do it well in advance of the departure date.

According to Real Gap, research needs to be done into packing, with each location and project requiring different belongings and essentials.
