Gap year students to be saved by rival airlines

Some UK airlines have announced that they will put a cap on all flight prices from Flyglobespan destinations in a bid to help gap year students get home for Christmas.

Ryanair, easyJet and Flybe have all stepped in to help approximately 3,400 travellers who are thought to be unprotected by the ATOL insurance, with a further 90,000 people with forward bookings also not covered.

It means that gap year students stuck in locations such as Egypt, France, Switzerland and Spain will be able to get back to any UK airport until December 24th for up to £80, including taxes.

Ryanair will also offer the same service to Edinburgh or Prestwick airports for £89 before December 24th for flights up until January 15th.

Recent events in the travel industry have highlighted how important travel insurance is to gap year students, with British Airways cabin crew staff announcing that they were going to strike, while the Eurostar has also experienced technical difficulties.
