A new guide has highlighted the top five destinations which should be explored on a gap year abroad.
Skyscanner said that with the recent news that employers are expecting over 70 graduates to apply for every new job vacancy, taking time out to pick up new skills may be an increasingly attractive option this year.
"Thailand offers some spectacular and varied gap year options, from earning your scuba diving badges to working with wild animals such as monkeys and elephants. Many rural provinces are also looking for teaching volunteers to work across all age groups," it stated.
Australia was also picked out by the travel website as an ideal gap year destination, with gappers being encouraged to explore the vast expanses of the country, rather than the busy cities.
Last week, two different travel experts picked out Thailand and Germany as ideal gap year destinations, with participants able to take part in a variety of different activities during their stay, including teaching.
